VR Sani-Co - Environmental Policy

ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT and POLICY

The company will take all appropriate steps to minimise any detrimental effect on the environment resulting from its normal business activities. Additionally it will also, where possible, use suppliers who have a similar approach to preserving the environment.

The company will actively pursue the following actions in support of its policy statement.

a) All waste that is collected will be disposed of by incineration, no material will be subject to land-fill other than in an emergency situation. Incineration is at the Edmonton Power Station where it is used to help generate electricity

b) Service routes will be planned and monitored to help ensure no fuel is wasted on unnecessary or unproductive journeys. Train staff to drive vehicles in a manner as to maximise fuel economy of the vehicle.

c) Where possible purchase either recycled products or those manufactured from sustainable materials.

d) Return boxes to suppliers for re-use where possible and re-use the boxes for own packing.

e) Shredding of waste and unwanted material to be used as packing material.

f) Use waste paper and backs of envelopes for notes and rough calculations etc.

g) All remaining office waste is segregated into 3 waste streams, general land-fill, cardboard and paper for collection by outside company who recycle as much as possible..

h) Turn off lights and heating in office and warehouse when not required.

i) Use of low wattage high efficiency light bulbs where possible.

j) Return inkjet cartridges to specialist recycling companies.
